Bethany Frazier, MS, RDN, LD
Owner, Registered Dietitian
Hi there, I’m Bethany, the owner of the Kansas City Dietitian Collective. I love food puns, cookies, and I’m obsessed with Halloween. I’m a second generation dietitian, so nutrition is basically in my blood. I love that I grew up with nutrition, and my education is invaluable, but nothing makes you an expert quite like experiencing it yourself. On my journey to specializing in complex issues, I’ve had my fair share of complex issues, including hormone concerns, getting my thyroid removed, and digestive issues that showed up after I had my third baby, developed mastitis, and was prescribed three rounds of antibiotics. Working with my health team, and using the personalized approach to nutrition that is our foundation here, I was able to come up with a sustainable plan that supports my gut health and keeps my symptoms at bay. I love to help clients find the right combination of supports to improve their symptoms and improve their lives!

What people say about working with Bethany:
Cara Glen RD, LD
Registered Dietitian
Hi, I’m Cara. I recently made my way back to Kansas with my family after living a somewhat nomadic life over the last decade. In the last 10 years I’ve lived in Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Arizona, and most recently, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I became interested in food and nutrition after spending a summer in high school watching too much Food Network and teaching myself to cook. I studied dietetics at Missouri State University, where I played soccer (Go Bears!). While I love to try new foods and recipes, I believe in keeping food simple. I’ve worked in a variety of settings as a dietitian, but one thing has always remained the same – my desire to help as many individuals as possible reach their goals.

What people say about working with Cara:

Erica Tangeman RD, LD, CPT
Registered Dietitian, Certified Personal Trainer
Hi, I’m Erica. I have a confession: I am a Real Housewives fanatic. I’m also a huge fan of creating new recipes and using nutrition to help fuel bodies well. I grew up in a small town and played almost every sport I could. During that time, I began to research how nutrition could help improve my athletic performance. During this time, I began struggling with several GI symptoms, which continued for over 10 years, with no help from the conventional side of healthcare. In college I began to learn about functional medicine and personalized nutrition. I was able to get to the root of my GI issues, finding ways to heal my gut with nutrition and functional medicine. Now, with my education and experience, I am able to help others who are struggling with the same issues find solutions when other medical paths don’t pan out.

Shannon Giese RD, CSP, LD
Registered Dietitian, Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition
Hi, I’m Shannon. I live north of Kansas City with my husband, three children, and our Black Lab. My love of food started in childhood as I helped my grandparents and mother in their garden. I learned pretty quickly that I had a love and curiosity for food and cooking, so when I realized I could make a career out of teaching people about food, there was no turning back! I’m a Certified Specialist in Pediatric nutrition and feel it is important to foster a healthy relationship with all foods starting at a young age. I want to help families alleviate the stress that often presents at mealtimes, especially with busy lifestyles and growing kids. I have worked in hospitals, food service, and outpatient clinics, and throughout this experience, I have found that one of the best parts of nutrition counseling is establishing relationships with clients and families to create individualized goals.

Emily Winokur MS, RD, LD
Registered Dietitian
Hi, I’m Emily. I enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, sipping on tea, eating ice cream, and ice skating. My interest in nutrition started at a very young age. Growing up, I witnessed my mom suffer from a chronic disease with no cure, my brother was the pickiest of eaters, and I myself encountered a series of GI and health issues that other healthcare practitioners dismissed. After feeling helpless with my health and the health of my family, I began to look beyond the traditional medical model. Through nutrition and lifestyle changes, we were able to alleviate the symptoms (and picky eating) that were affecting each of our daily lives. I realized, through improving our quality of life with nutrition, that I wanted to be able to offer these services to others by becoming a dietitian. After working as a clinical dietitian in the neonatal intensive care unit seeing nutrition’s significant impact on infants’ weight gain and growth, and my ability as a dietitian to provide targeted recommendations in these areas, I expanded my practice to pediatric nutrition beyond infancy and am excited to offer support to all kids.

Lisa Zane RD, LD
Registered Dietitian
Hi, I’m Lisa. Agriculture has always been a part of my family’s life. My mom grew up on a dairy farm and some of my favorite memories took place there. I believe in the power of nutrients, starting in the fields. From there, I fell in love with the science of nutrition while studying psychology at The University of Kansas. I wanted to learn as much as I could about how the food I ate would impact my body. It became such a passion of mine that I knew I wanted to spend my career sharing my excitement for nutrition. After completing my degree in Psychology at KU, I went on to complete my degree in Dietetics at Kansas State University. I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 10 years, and in that time I have worked in hospitals, physician offices and virtual coaching settings. I also spent more than 7 years in a retail dietetics where I taught cooking and meal prep classes in addition to providing individualized nutrition counseling. I specialize in weight management, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and the prevention and treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes. My philosophy in nutrition is that there is no one-size-fits-all. I believe in connecting with each client to uncover their personal path to reaching their goals.

Erin Landau, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Hi, I’m Erin. As an Occupational Therapist, I help people succeed in independently performing skills and activities that are important to them. One major focus area of my work is helping children and families with eating and feeding. I have seen how stressful it is for a family when their child is struggling with eating and how it impacts the entire family’s everyday life. I am passionate about approaching this issue in a holistic way, considering physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional development, along with sensory systems and environmental factors. It can often feel like putting a puzzle together to find out how all the different factors play a part in eating, but it’s so rewarding to see the positive impact on the entire family when the pieces begin coming together. Working with The Kansas City Dietitian Collective allows me to focus my practice on food and eating struggles while also partnering with dietitians who are able to provide information and assistance from the nutrition angle. It’s a perfect combination to help families looking for support with eating or feeding!

Carrie
Administrative Assistant
Hi, I’m Carrie. I’m, most likely, the person you talk to when you call to get information about our services, have a billing question, or call to book an appointment. I love my husband, our two kids, our two King Charles Cavaliers, and iced tea. While I’m not a Registered Dietitian, I have always loved learning about all things nutrition and exercise. I love finding ways to make healthy food taste good. A while ago, I found myself struggling with a lot of health issues and conventional medicine wasn’t helping me feel better. I tried a new approach using functional medicine and nutrition and finally started feeling better! It’s amazing to me how when we give our bodies what they need, they actually start healing and we experience relief. I’m a big fan of personalized nutrition because I’ve seen the benefits firsthand!
