Who are you hanging with?

Remember when your parents told you that you couldn’t hang out with “that” kid because he was a bad kid?

They were right!!  If you hang out with people who have unhealthy habits you will  likely develop those same habits.  If you hang out with people who are health nuts you are more likely to become a health nut too.  (Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t.)  

For example, I am blessed with an incredible family.  I can say this because I had nothing to do with it.  I just got blessed through no effort of my own. 

I have an amazing son-in-law.  He is an elite long distance runner and now a tri-athlete.  He’s also just a great guy to be around.  We were talking the other day about coffee and he just casually mentioned that he was quitting coffee.  My ears perked up at that remark and I asked why.  His answer, he was afraid he “might” get addicted to it and he didn’t want to be addicted to anything, no matter how harmless.  

WOW!!!  How simple.  How wise. 

What are you addicted to?  Chocolate?  Naked carbs?  Potato chips?  The answer is simple.  Set your mind to getting it out of your diet.  

And hang around people like my son-in-law who, just by being around him, makes you want to be a better person.
