What’s So Great about Nuts?

3 things great about nuts:

  1. I am one.
  2. You may be one.
  3. Almonds are nuts.

Almonds are my favorite nuts. They are high in the good fat-monounsaturated fat. They are low in the bad fat-saturated fat. They are high in potassium. Potassium helps moderate blood pressure. They provide fiber, protein, vitamin E, riboflavin, magnesium and zinc. In other words they are just plain good for you. 

3 things not great about nuts:

1.  I am one.

2.  You may be one.

3.  They are high in calories. 

4.  Some days I am high in calories.

5.  Some days you are high in calories. 

Choose raw, unsalted almonds. 

Limit your intake to about ¼ cup per day.

Sometimes you feel like a nut.  Sometimes you don’t.  (Can you finish this little song?)  ** Hint- when I was a kid my Grandma, whom I called Nanny, let me share one of these with her while she rested and watched her Soap.  They are still my favorite treat.  Can you guess what they are?
